Matt R. Allen Bio

Matt R. Allen is predominantly known as a feature screenwriter that has written for New Line, Paramount, Disney, Sony, Warner Brothers, Fox, Lionsgate, and Universal. He is perhaps best known as the creator and co-writer of the Vince Vaughn & Reese Witherspoon comedy, Four Christmases.

In his fifteen year career, Matt has written or co-written thirty screenplays - three of which have been produced by major Hollywood studios and have collectively starred eight Academy Award winners; Kevin Spacey, Helen Hunt, Christopher Walken, Reese Witherspoon, Robert Duvall, Sissy Spacek, Jon Voight, and Mary Steenburgen.  In addition to his credited work, Matt has also been an uncredited writer and has done “punch up’ on such films as Employee of the Month, Undercover Brother, RED, RED II, and several others.

Before becoming a professional screenwriter, Matt was a talent agent for International Creative Management as well as a mixed martial artist with a pro record of 1 and 1. This is true. Deal with it.

More recently, Matt co-wrote the Barry Sonnenfeld directed talking cat movie, Nine Lives, but don’t hold that against him. It saved his life, and there’s a good story there (read the blog).

In addition to the above mentioned projects, Matt and frequent collaborator, Chris Borrelli, recently created and wrote an ensemble action film for Universal Studios and Fast & Furious producer, Chris Morgan. He can’t tell you the title, or who will star in it yet, but chances are, there will more Academy Award winners.  Look for it in theaters in 2018.
